NEUROSCIENCE-INFORMED INTERIOR DESIGN FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIVES
NEUROSCIENCE-INFORMED INTERIOR DESIGN FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIVES
The Environmental Layer of Human Performance

It happens across a sequence of environments—where people arrive, prepare, organize, focus, wait, train, perform, transition, decompress, recover and return.
ANAM Performance Pilot Programs™ examine that often-overlooked layer: the physical environments surrounding people before, during and after periods of high demand.
Through environmental assessment, observation and interior design informed by NeuroDesign and NeuroAesthetics, ANAM identifies environmental conditions that may be creating unnecessary friction—and opportunities to design more intentionally around the people using the space.
One environment can begin the conversation.
The complete journey changes how we understand it.

WHAT HAPPENS AROUND PERFORMANCE MATTERS, TOO.
Organizations invest extensively in the people they serve—from coaching, training and leadership to nutrition, wellness, operations, technology and facilities.
ANAM asks another question:
Light. Sound. Visual complexity. Spatial organization. Privacy. Crowding. Materials. Storage. Wayfinding. Movement. Sensory conditions. Opportunities for choice and control.
Each becomes part of the experience of moving through a demanding day.
ANAM studies those conditions as an interconnected environmental journey rather than a collection of isolated rooms.

Preparation doesn't ask the same thing of a person as recovery. Focus doesn't require the same environmental conditions as decompression. And the environment surrounding a demanding moment may need to support something very different from the environment we return to afterward.
ANAM looks beyond the room itself to consider the complete environmental journey—how people prepare, focus, perform, transition, decompress, restore and return.
We consider light, sound, color, visual complexity, spatial organization, privacy, materials, storage, movement and opportunities for choice and control—then translate those findings into an intentional design strategy.
FROM PREPARATION → TO PERFORMANCE → AND BACK TO RECOVERY
ANAM's proprietary environmental frameworks guide how we evaluate different moments of demand, transition, decompression and restoration throughout the performance journey.
Every transition happens somewhere. ANAM studies that somewhere.

No single discipline owns human performance.

Mental strength, physical well-being, daily rhythms and the environments surrounding people can each contribute a different perspective. ANAM's Performance Pilot Programs are designed to work alongside—not replace—the professionals and systems already supporting the people within an organization. The goal isn't to blur disciplines. It's to see the person more completely.
From the Inside, Out
Mental preparation, focus, confidence and strategies for navigating pressure.
When appropriate, this lens may include collaboration with qualified mental-performance professionals, like Stacey Goodrich of So Connected.
Through the Day
The everyday rhythms surrounding preparation, nutrition, hydration, demand, transition and recovery.
When appropriate, this lens may include collaboration with qualified nutrition and wellness professionals, like Christina Ramos of Liora Motherhood.
From the Outside, In
Light, sound, visual complexity, spatial organization, materials, privacy, movement, wayfinding and other environmental conditions surrounding the person.
This is ANAM's primary design discipline, with Founder / NCIDQ Designer Kelly Schellert, NeuroDesign & NeuroAesthetics Certified.

BEYOND THE ROOM - EVERY TRANSITION HAPPENS SOMEWHERE:
FROM HOME & TRAVEL → TO PERFORM → AND BACK TO HOME & ALL THE TOUCH POINTS IN BETWEEN
Traditional design often begins with the room.
ANAM begins with the person moving through it.
We ask the critical questions, such as:
What environmental conditions surround that moment?
And what changes between those environments?
This journey helps ANAM identify the moments and spaces that deserve deeper study and create design solutions for your environments very intentionally.

A Performance Pilot creates a focused way to investigate an environment before assuming what needs to change.
01 — DISCOVER
Define the people, performance journey, environments, operational realities and questions worth investigating.
02 — AUDIT
Observe environmental conditions including light, sound, visual complexity, organization, circulation, privacy, storage, transitions and sensory load.
03 — LISTEN
Gather participant perspective through ANAM's environmental assessment and appropriate stakeholder input.
04 — PRIORITIZE
Identify environmental friction points, opportunities and the spaces or transitions most appropriate for focused intervention.
05 — DESIGN
Translate findings into environmental programming and design recommendations for selected priority spaces.
06 — APPLY + REVIEW
Implement an agreed pilot application and review what was learned before determining whether the approach should expand.
Training. Competition. Transition. Recovery.
From arrival and locker environments to training, fueling, sidelines, competition, post-performance transition, travel and recovery, ANAM studies the spaces surrounding the athlete's complete performance journey.

pilot → design → implementation/scale.

This work focuses on what happens internally before and during high-pressure moments—thought patterns, confidence, mental blocks, and the ability to access skills under pressure.
Through mental strength coaching, Stacey provides athletes and parents with strategies for navigating pressure, working through mental blocks, and strengthening confidence and performance mindset. These tools can also support individuals navigating other demanding, high-performance environments.
Best for HOW THE MIND RESPONDS BEFORE & IN THE MOMENT:
Athletes, leaders and high-performance professionals are continually responding to the environments around them—including light, sound, color, spatial organization, visual complexity, materials and other sensory conditions.
ANAM Environments™ integrates interior design with NeuroDesign and NeuroAesthetics to create environments informed by how people perceive, experience and respond to space—with particular attention to preparation, focus, transition, decompression, restoration and recovery.

Best for HOW THE ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTS THE PERSON BEFORE, DURING + AFTER PERIODS OF HIGH DEMAND:

This work focuses on the everyday rhythms and practical systems that support the body through demanding seasons—nutrition, hydration, routines, organization, and reducing unnecessary decision load.
Through nutrition and wellness education, Christina helps individuals and families create realistic systems that make healthier choices easier to access and sustain. For athletes, performers, leaders, and those navigating high-pressure lives, these same principles can support the routines surrounding preparation, performance, recovery, and everyday well-being.
Best for HOW THE BODY IS SUPPORTED BEFORE, BETWEEN & AFTER DEMAND:
ANAM is where true, lasting transformation begins.
