Research shows blue light is the leading cause of cancer, with those who work at night (nurses in particular) specifically more prone to breast cancer.
In neurodesign, we learn how the science of color, light and technology is used in tandem to create captivating and harmonious living environments from many experts in their fields, including Color Expert, Rosamund Kavander and Sarah Morgan, Founder of Nano Lit Technologies.
How each of us perceives light and color drives how we experience environments developed around different palettes. Dr. Rebecca Tapia, MD, a brain injury specialist from the University of Texas Health, developed a jumpstart Visual Experience Exercise for neurodesigners certified through the NeuroDesign Academy. We have expanded it to include how we perceive color through light and patterns, and included the entire gray scale, in order to get you closer to an interior color profile foundation for your restorative spaces.
As Dr. Tapia states, "Think of the brain as a football field where over 1/2 of the field is dedicated to sensory input and receiving information. In the brain, these are the neural pathways taking up most of the real estate." The doctor is the quarterback, but the designers are the ones running the ball to the end zone, and most responsible for creating the visual environment for the greatest impact on health.
We start by approaching the programming phase in a much more holistic way than the previous standard. When we pair it with the technology available to us through the NeuroDesign Academy, we can get to viable solutions much faster. While cost effective, the most important benefits are increasing cognitive function, reducing trauma, injury recovery, mood, emotion, illness for a greater impact on health, wellbeing and society as a whole.
For athletes, specifically, it keeps you mentally balanced and physically in the game, which can lead to greater opportunities, post career leadership and greater financial wealth, long term. For youth female athletes, who drop out of sports at an astonishing rate during the identity forming years of 12-18, the losses are compounded. We have joined Rise and Soar, along with National and International acclaimed athletes and parents as well as Mental Strength Coach, Stacey Goodrich of So Connected to launch an initiative for a pilot program that supports youth female athletes at the state level. We recently met with Senator David Gregory to present the initiative, to great reception. (Stay tuned at IG: @riseandsoarwithqueenp)
To start your journey to greater wellbeing, please download a copy of the color wheel image and label each circle with the following letters A, C, N or X (see below).
We provide color consults in tandem with the ANAM Color Exercise.

Put an A next to each area of colors that excite, energize or activate you.
Put a C next to each area of colors that calm or soothe you.
Put an N next to each area of colors that cause no reaction in you or that feel neutral to you.
Put an X next to each area of colors that cause negative reactions, or that you absolutely do not want to use.
For Restorative Spaces (like bedrooms) 80% of your foundational space should be selected from your C (Calming/ Soothing) category, with 20% utilizing a neutral white (ecru/cream), matte/carbon black or grayed complementary color.
Use of your A-Color and color accents will vary by your individual situation.
