NEUROSCIENCE-INFORMED INTERIOR DESIGN FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIVES
NEUROSCIENCE-INFORMED INTERIOR DESIGN FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIVES
Designing for the Person Behind the Performance
Led by NCIDQ interior designer Kelly Schellert, with specialized certification in the science of NeuroDesign and Neuroaesthetics, ANAM Environments™ applies evidence-informed environmental design across the complete performance journey—from preparation and training to transition, decompression, recovery and home.

Kelly's 30 years of design work spans residential, commercial, luxury and large-scale performance environments—experience that ultimately led her to ask deeper questions about how people perceive, experience and respond to the spaces around them.
Her experience includes:
Each project, publication and media site is approached through the lens of how the environment supports the human lives inside it.

ANAM was born not from trend—but from lived experience.
When Kelly’s daughter, a nationally elite competitive dance champion, experienced a traumatic incident during a shooting at a shopping mall, the impact was profound. Performance didn’t simply pause — the nervous system changed.
Through her daughter's therapy and recovery, Kelly became acutely aware of the role environment could play in everyday comfort, identity, predictability, privacy and restoration.
As both a mother and an interior designer, Kelly began doing what she knew best: observing, listening, and rebuilding — starting with her daughter’s own bedroom.
That space became a living case study in:
The transformation was tangible.
When Kelly later experienced a serious automobile accident followed by hospitalization, spinal injuries, surgery and an extended recovery, the questions behind ANAM became personal in an entirely new way.
During her own recovery, she began applying what she was learning through NeuroDesign alongside the nutrition, movement, medical care and rehabilitation already supporting her healing. She became increasingly aware of the environments surrounding recovery itself—the places where we sleep, rest, prepare, move, work, reconnect with family and gradually return to everyday life.
During recovery which also included pre/post-surgery body conditioning as well as nutrition plans from Christina Ramos of LIORA, Kelly also realized how Christina's expertise complemented her own and that of collaborator on special initiatives, Stacey Goodrich (see RESOURCES for more information).
During this time, Kelly also drew upon her year long volunteer service as a patient care volunteer at a children’s hospital, supporting young patients as they prepared to return home.
She spent hours talking with children about:
Together, they designed spaces in words, drawings, and imagination.
These experiences—combined with Kelly’s background in interior design, biophilia, and trauma-informed care—formed the foundation of what would become ANAM Environments (Patent Pending).
Kelly is formally certified in NeuroAesthetics and NeuroDesign through the NEURODESIGN ACADEMY, bringing scientific rigor to a practice already grounded in real-world outcomes.
ANAM is not traditional interior design.
It is:
ANAM Environments™ is a specialized NeuroDesign and Neuroaesthetics-informed interior design practice focused on the environments surrounding high performance—from training and preparation spaces to decompression, recovery and home environments for athletes, performers and high-pressure professionals. It is specifically beneficial for:
Our distinction is the whole performance environment. We look beyond where performance happens to the spaces people move through before, between and after demanding performance.
MIND → BODY + RHYTHMS → ENVIRONMENT
Whole performance is supported from more than one direction.
High-demand people don't experience their mental strength, physical well-being, daily routines, and environments in isolation. ANAM's collaborative approach brings together complementary disciplines that support different parts of the performance experience.
FROM THE INSIDE, OUT — MIND
Mental Strength Coach Stacey Goodrich, Founder of So Connected®, works with the internal performance experience—mental blocks, confidence, pressure, mindset and the ability to access skills during demanding moments.
FROM THE BODY, THROUGH — BODY + RHYTHMS
Christina Ramos, Founder of LIORA, brings the nutrition and wellness lens—helping create realistic daily rhythms and systems around nutrition, hydration, preparation, recovery and everyday well-being.
FROM THE OUTSIDE, IN — ENVIRONMENT
Kelly Schellert, NCIDQ, Founder of ANAM Environments™, addresses the physical environments surrounding performance—using interior design informed by NeuroDesign and NeuroAesthetics to consider sensory conditions, spatial organization, preparation, transition, decompression, restoration and recovery.
Together, these three perspectives create a more complete way of looking at the person behind performance—not as interchangeable services, but as complementary disciplines addressing different parts of the same experience.
ANAM calls this The Whole Performance Environment™.
Kelly and Stacey's collaboration began through Rise & Soar, the youth-athlete media and mentorship platform Kelly co-founded with her daughter. The initiative was created to connect young athletes and their families with experienced athletes, parents and specialists for candid conversations about the challenges that can exist behind performance—from pressure and setbacks to injury, adversity, identity and the transition between difficult seasons.
As ANAM's work expands into performance environments, that collaborative thinking is growing as well—bringing together complementary expertise in mental strength, nutrition and wellness rhythms, and environmental design when appropriate to the individual, team or organization.
